Second edition of “Invincible”

The digital version of “Invincible” has been updated to the second edition. That famous book has now gone full circle: we painstakingly converted the original print version to digital – now that digital version served as the base for an updated print edition, with new layout and diagrams. Then the corrections and additions were added back to the digital version.

If you already own “Invincible” in SmartGo One or Go Books, it will update automatically. You can order a printed copy directly from Kiseido. However you read it, it’s an amazing book.

Quoting from Richard Bozulich in the preface:

As publisher, I am happy to be able to present to the go world an updated version of what is probably the most prestigious book Kiseido has published. In my 57 years as a publisher of go books, I have found, unfortunately, that game collections do not sell nearly as well as pedagogical books, that is, books on the strategy and techniques of go. Invincible has been an honorable exception. Ever since its first publication in 1982, it has sold steadily and remained in print, while other game collections I have published have fallen by the wayside. Moreover, it has enjoyed a sterling reputation with the go public and in various polls has consistently been rated as the best go book in English.
My goal in putting out a second edition is to ensure that this book will remain available to go fans for decades to come.

Mailing list change

You may have noticed that this email looks a bit different than usual: I've switched the newsletter mailing service from Mailchimp to Buttondown. There should be no need for you to do anything; please let me know if you notice any issues. And while this newsletter is focused on go books, you may also want to subscribe to a separate mailing list that focuses on changes to SmartGo One.

Staying connected

Any questions or suggestions, please reach out with an email to support@smartgo.com. And you can follow me on Mastodon: @smartgo@mastodon.social
