Mastering Basic Corner Shapes
Young Sun Yoon’
s book “Mastering Basic Corner Shapes” is now available. The 52 chapters of this book present an in-depth analysis of the most frequently occurring corner shapes as well as their origin. Each chapter consists of four problems of varying difficulty based on the same basic shape, offering a step-by-step approach where an otherwise difficult-to-solve problem is deconstructed into two or three easier problems. The solution section analyzes the most relevant variations and failures, as well as typical mistakes by both players.
Quote from a member of the Salt Lake City go club who bought a printed copy:
This book is amazing! So much practical and critically important knowledge about fundamental corner shapes. Highly recommend this one!

Two books at 50% off
Richard Bozulich of Kiseido Publishing has put two of his books on sale: “Modern Master Games: The Dawn of Tournament Go” and “Encyclopedia of Go Principles”. Each is half-price ($5.99) until February 28.

“The Dawn of Tournament Go” gives you insights into eleven masterpieces by some of the great players of the post-war era. An exhaustive commentary accompanies each game. It starts with the atomic-bomb game between Iwamoto and Hashimoto, Takagawa’s dominance of the Honinbo title, the rise of Sakata and Fujisawa Shuko, Fujisawa Hosai and his imitation go strategy, and more.

“An Encyclopedia of Go Principles” brings together all the strategic and tactical principles of go; each principle is supplemented with as many examples as the principle warrants. With all these principles contained under one cover, a go player can embark on a systematic study of them. Once all 100 principles have been firmly implanted in your mind, you will instinctively and intuitively recall the relevant principle when they arise in your games through pattern recognition.
Check out the sample of each book at gobooks.com or in the app, and grab one or both before this offer expires.
