Go Congress

I’m about to head to the US Go Congress in Williamsburg, Virginia: a week of Go tournaments and lectures, and a chance to meet many friends I only see once a year. If you ever have the opportunity to attend a Go congress, I highly recommend it.

Featured Books

Most Go books are timeless, but the Go Player’s Almanac 2001 contains some chapters that are out-of-date (top players, tournaments). However, it also contains an excellent dictionary of Go terms, which has now been released as a separate book. And it doesn’t get more timeless than a 300 year old Go problem.

As always, you can read a free chapter of each book to see whether the book might be for you. The complete list of 131 books is at: https://gobooks.com/books.html

Reading Japanese Go Books

The two volumes of Just Enough Japanese by Richard Hunter will help you learn enough to benefit from Go books written in Japanese. The Dictionary of Go Terms complements those books, explaining many Japanese Go terms.
