Android and Windows
So far, Go Books has been limited to the Apple ecosystem: iPad, iPhone, and Mac. But changes are afoot to make the books available to Android and Windows users: I’ve been working on converting the books to ePub format, and hope to release that in the coming months. As promised, you heard it here first – watch https://smartgo.blog for a blog post with more details soon.
Featured Books
Three new books have been released since the last newsletter in July: the latest in the Black to Play! series, another excellent analysis of AlphaGo's play by Yuan Zhou, and a new book by Richard Bozulich on attacking and defending weak groups.
As always, you can read a free chapter of each book to see whether the book might be for you. The complete list of 134 books is at: https://gobooks.com/books.html
Gateway to All Marvels
The Xuanxuan Qijing of 1347 (Gengen Gokyo in Japanese) may be the most significant go book ever produced: it has become the foundation for virtually every problem book since. John Fairbairn’s Gateway to All Marvels brings together the 466 problems with all their variations and key techniques, as well as tons of extra material. A treasure chest for dan players and those who aspire to reach dan level.
