Go book with no diagrams
All together, the books in Go Books contain about 100,000 go diagrams. But the most recently added book doesn’t include a single diagram: “Buddhist Philosophy and the Game of Go” by William Cobb contains a clear explanation of the basic principles of Buddhist philosophy, using Go as examples. It will give you a different perspective on the game, and likely make your play stronger as well as more enjoyable. An excellent read for the holidays.
Featured Books
The second edition of “All About Ko” is substantially reworked (free update if you already bought it). Ko is a special topic that’s well worth studying. Speaking of special topics: time to learn more about the cross-cut, and look at the special properties of the first line.
You can read a free chapter of each book to see whether the book might be for you, either in the app, or by downloading an EPUB sample. Please see the complete list of over 150 books at: https://gobooks.com
2023
Go Books are usually about half price of what the printed books would be, ranging from $3 to $20. Currently, there are just two books at the $20 level: “Invincible” by John Power, and “The Life, Games and Commentaries of Honinbo Shuei” by John Fairbairn, both a bargain even at that higher price. I can’t reveal anything yet, but it looks like 2023 will add another book to that category. It will be worth it.
