Go Consultants: Legacy Edition
The “Go Consultants” book by John Fairbairn and T Mark Hall provides an incredible record of what pros think about during one particular game – Go Seigen & Kitani Minoru vs. Segoe Kensaku & Suzuki Tamejiro. There could not be a more thoroughly commented professional game. Except now there is: John Fairbairn has released a significantly expanded and updated version of the book – please check out gogodonline.co.uk/books/ to get a printed copy. The existing shorter version in Go Books remains available and has been renamed “Legacy Edition” to avoid confusion (it will not be updated to the new version).
Featured books
Some assorted books that will improve your game: life and death tactics, thorough analysis of historical pro games, and strategy and tactics of early-game fighting.
You can read a free chapter of each book to see whether the book might be for you, either in the app, or by downloading an EPUB sample. Please see the complete list of over 160 books at: https://gobooks.com
Next SmartGo One
I'm almost ready to release an updated version of SmartGo One, and it will let you copy the position of a book diagram as SGF, so you can easily paste it in My Games and e.g. use the built-in KataGo to study it.
Speaking of KataGo: the strength of the AI in SmartGo One has been improved significantly over the last few months, as it's making better use of the available processing power. Give it a try by playing against the AI – set it to SmartGo++ for full strength, or choose one of the lower levels to give yourself a fighting chance.
